Conceived in the wake of the “Thermae Europae” European project, this book proposes measures and recommendations for a more assertive recognition of European thermal heritage and its particulars. This technical and methodological work, co-financed by the “Culture 2000” programme of the EU, presents thermal practices, restoration work, cooperation projects and the main colloquia and symposia on thermal culture.

This illustrated book, published in the framework of the “Thermae Euopae” project, describes the European thermal heritage in all its richness and diversity. Supported by the “Culture 2000” programme of the EU, this publication guides the reader through the history of thermal practices and the architecture of spa towns before embarking on a long journey of discovery of 47 spa towns from Greece to Finland.

These two volumes are the result of the cooperation project TERRA INCOGNITA, supported by the “Culture 2000” programme of the European Union.
They draw a detailed appraisal of the earthen architecture in Europe and of its building and maintenance techniques, contributing to the recognition of a cultural universe deeply rooted in our traditions, but still unfamiliar to the public.

This book proposes a new reflection about the definition of cultural heritage and the role of museums in Africa today. It is published in the framework of a cooperation project involving museums and cultural organisations from Europe and Africa.

During the last decade of the XX c., European cities had seemed to rediscover the city square. This book is an account of this recent and extraordinary period in which squares have been the focus of so many regeneration projects conducted in every part of Europe. It selects a sample of sixty city squares and bears witness to the process of their recent revitalization.

This reference publication written by Luisa Montrosset reports about 3 years of reflection, meetings and exchanges among specialists belonging to the universities partners of the EC supported multiannual cooperation project “Euxin – European Union Cross Identity Network” between 2001 and 2004. It puts forward an in-depth analysis of the role played by the universities in the construction of the European cultural identity.

This exhibition catalogue (French-English) traces back the various steps which have brought to the restoration of 13 mosaic panels of the Byzantine period, belonging to a church of the 5th-6th centuries situated near the village of Tell Amarna (N-W.Syria). This cooperation project between Polish, Syrian and Greek restorers, under the direction of the Department of Assyriology of the Liège University, has led to various travelling exhibitions.

This book, available in English, is the result of a cooperation scheme among European and Ghanaian cultural organisations. It presents the outcomes of several field missions, consisting in the study, the documentation and the architectural survey of 3 European fortresses on the Ghana coast (Anomabu, Butre and Axim), which have been used as a relay in the slave traffic and the trade of gold and wood.
